Since the calendar year 1993, the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) company “Red Hat” has played a great role in assembling the features of UNIX and distributing it as Linux.
At present, after the duration of nearly 17 years from its birth in 1993, Red Hat has finally launched a new website called Open Source (http://opensource.com). At this website users can not only find the latest news about FOSS related issues but also can get aware of applications and information about all certain products which follow the FOSS fundamentals.
The nitty-gritty or the core reason behind the launch of this website is to increase the number of users using Open Source and to motivate even more people to start using Open Source. Additionally, the actual focus of this site is to tap into the user form Education, Business and Government sectors. As most of the Government agencies and the business are already is search of certain ways to cut down the cost which they are have bear when they go for closed source and proprietary software, there for this initiative by Red Hat does not come as a surprise .
Similar to other FOSS project, OpenSource.com by Red Hat is also a community driven project and all users who ever are interested to contribute can enter in the field with help.
